- Also in December 2018 GPS Marine has introduced the launch GPS Alert into service. Capable of speeds up to 35 kph the GPS Alert is intended to serve as a “Fleet Support Launch” to enable the technical super and ISM officer (amongst others) to get out into the workplace to deliver support and assistance to the Company’s tug crews, who it is envisaged will be intensely busy over the coming years delivering on existing contracts and new work generated by the Tideway Tunnel Project. The launch serves as a fully functional office and is also equipped to facilitate running repairs and maintenance on fleet vessels. She also carries an array of first aid and salvage equipment. It is envisaged that the introduction of the GPS Alert into service will mark another step change in the way that GPS Marine manages occupational health and safety, ISM and running repairs and maintenance on its River Thames fleet of tugs and barges.
